PUBLIC NOTICE Notice of Modification of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit to Discharge Treated Wastewater Into Waters of the State of Georgia. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has received a NPDES permit application for the modification of an existing NPDES permit. Having reviewed such application, the Environmental Protection Division proposes to issue for a maximum term of five years the following permit subject to specific pollutant limitations and special conditions: Fulton County Department of Public Works, 141 Pryor Street SW, Suite 6001, Atlanta, Georgia, 30303, NPDES Permit No. GA0024333, for the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility located at 1030 Marietta Highway, Roswell, Georgia, 30075. Up to 24 MGD of treated wastewater is being discharged to the Chattahoochee River in the Chattahoochee River Basin. The permit is being modified to include effluent limitations and monitoring requirements for the intermediary flow of 32 MGD. The draft permit also includes effluent limitations and monitoring requirements for the expanded flow of 38 MGD. In addition, the permit has been modified to include language for an approved Sludge Management Plan to deliver sludge to another permitted facility for further treatment and ultimate disposal. Persons wishing to comment upon or object to the proposed determinations are invited to submit same in writing to the EPD address below, or via e-mail at EPDcomments@dnr.ga.gov, no later than thirty (30) days after this notification. If you choose to e-mail your comments, please be sure to include the words "NPDES permit modification Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility GA0024333 (Fulton County)" in the subject line to ensure that your comments will be forwarded to the correct staff. All comments received prior to or on that date will be considered in the formulation of final determinations regarding the application. A public hearing may be held where the EPD Director finds a significant degree of public interest in a proposed permit or group of permits.
