Notice of Public Comment Period Time Critical Removal Action North Landfill Area, FTG-01 Fort Gillem, Forest Park, Georgia The Department of the Army invites the public to review and comment on the Time Critical Removal Action (TCRA) for the North Landfill Area, FTG-01, at Fort Gillem in Forest Park, Georgia. The TCRA presents the U.S. Army's (Army) preferred alternative of a removal action. The removal action consist of the excavation and off-site disposal of buried debris and associated soil contaminated with hazardous substances at multiple locations at FTG-01. The TCRA describes the activities to be conducted for the removal actions and the risk to human health at the FTG-01 Site. This document is issued by the Army as the lead agency for cleanup at the FTG-01 Site in cooperation with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD), as support agency, and in accordance with the public participation requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. 9601 et seq. as amended) Section 117(a) and under 40 CFR Section 300.430(f)(2) of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP). Interested members of the public may review and comment on the TCRA during a 30-day Public Comment Period, from January 16 to February 15, 2019. Comments must be post marked no later than midnight of the last day of the comment period to be considered. The Army will schedule a public meeting should the public express sufficient interest.
