Call for Special Election for Georgia's Fifth Congressional

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION FOR GEORGIA'S FIFTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT Notice is hereby given that a Special Election shall be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in the parts of Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton Counties that comprise Georgia's Fifth Congressional District to fill the seat for the unexpired term of Rep. John Lewis, U.S. Representative for Georgia's Fifth Congressional District. A run-off, if needed, shall be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Qualifying for the Special Election shall be held at the Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive SE, 802 West Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. The dates and hours of qualifying will be Wednesday, July 29, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., and Friday, July 31, 2020 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The qualifying fee shall be $5,220.00. Monday, August 31, 2020 is the last day to register to vote for all persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the Special Election. Advance in-person absentee voting will begin on Monday, September 7, 2020. Election Day polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
