Opportunity to Object to the 2020 Cooperative Gypsy Moth Slow the Spread Project US Forest Service, Southern Region Regional Forester Ken Arney has prepared an environmental assessment and draft Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact for the 2020 Gypsy Moth Slow the Spread Project. The project proposes treatment on the Jefferson NF in Virginia and the Pisgah NF in North Carolina for the control of gypsy moth using a treatment of aerially applied mating disruption pheromones that targets gypsy moths. The Project is subject to the pre-decisional objection process pursuant to 36 CFR 218 Subparts A and B. The opportunity to object ends 45 days following the date of publication of this legal notice in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The publication date of the legal notice in the newspapers of record is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file an objection. Objections will be accepted only from those who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project during designated opportunity for public comment. Issues raised in objections must be based on previously submitted timely, specific written comments regarding the proposed project unless based on new information arising after designated comment opportunities (§218.8(c)). The objection must contain the minimum content requirements specified in §218.8(d) and incorporation of documents by reference is permitted only as provided in §218.8(b). It is the objector's responsibility to ensure timely filing of a written objection with the reviewing officer. All objections are available for public inspection during and after the objection process. Faxed objections must be sent and addressed to "Objection Reviewing Officer" at (503) 808-2339 and must include the subject line as noted above. The fax coversheet should specify the number of pages being submitted. Emailed or faxed objections must be received by 11:59:59 pm (Eastern time zone).
