Wedding of Dr. Isabel S. Griffin and Kevin R. Porter On March 31, 2023, Dr. Isabel Sloan Griffin and Kevin Raymond Porter were married in an outdoor ceremony at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Presiding as officiant, over the wedding nuptials, was Isabel's endeared friend and colleague, Danielle Fernandez. As Isabel walked down the garden path to Kevin, "La Vie en rose" was elegantly played by the renowned cellist, Roy Harran. Poignantly, a red cardinal perched nearby, and stayed awhile Isabel's gown of white and blush pink tulle featured floral lace appliqués. Her flower crown and bouquet were inspired by the pastel colors of Easter (Isabel's favorite holiday and the day of their engagement). An exquisite variety of handpicked florals, including heirloom roses, were loosely arranged; tied together by ribbons of soft green that fluttered in the morning breeze. Kevin wore a classic tweed suit, all the while, sporting a botanical print bow tie and sterling cuff links shaped like airplanes. Following the ceremony, esteemed family and friends toasted the couple at a plen aire luncheon reception on the terrace of the Garden's Longleaf Restaurant. The bride and groom met at Alliance Francaise d'Atlanta in 2019. The couple's teacher, Bertrand Prehu, was given homage as their "matchmaker". The bride, 32, is an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She has fifteen published public health articles. She earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University in 2012, a master's degree in Public Health-Epidemiology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2014, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree in Epidemiology from the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work at Florida International University in 2019. Isabel is the youngest daughter of Susan West Pearl (of Wellington, Florida) and the late James Shannon Griffin II; as well as, the youngest stepdaughter of the late Brian Stephen Pearl. She is a granddaughter of the late Barbara Jean Davis Riggs and the late Alvin Eugene West; as well as, the late Julia E. McClelland Griffin and the late Willard Atkinson Griffin, Jr.. Isabel is a step-granddaughter of Nancy Henderson West and Wayne H. Riggs. The bride's siblings are SueAnn D. Griffin, Sarah E. Griffin, Elissa S. Pearl Hulnick (Steven), Jennifer L. Pearl, and Jason B. Pearl (the late Jessica L. Chandler). Isabel is the aunt of Ian O. Hulnick, Alexandra L. Hulnick, and Landon A. Buechler. Landon is the son of Jennifer and the late Chris M. Buechler. The groom, 33, is a Principal Engineer at Delta Air Lines, a licensed pilot, and an accomplished aviation photographer. He earned a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in Aeronautics and a minor in Aviation Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2013. Kevin is the oldest son of Nancy Risher Porter and Lloyd W. Porter (of Gorham, Maine). He is a grandson of Pearl Beauchemin Porter and the late Alton "Merton" Porter, Jr.; as well as, the late June Fern Dimmick and the late Robert Remick Risher, Jr.. The groom's brother is Eric R. Porter. Isabel and Kevin's adventurous honeymoon destination was the "Pearl of the Pacific"tropical French Polynesia! The couple has since returned home to Atlanta, Georgia.
